NBA News: Ben Simmons Returns to the NBA With Sacramento Kings
September 6, 2026 — NBA News
The NBA is about to witness the return of a familiar name. Ben Simmons is making his comeback with the Sacramento Kings, agreeing to a one-year contract after missing the entire 2025-26 season because of injuries.
For Simmons, this is more than just another NBA contract. It is an opportunity to restart a career that once looked destined for stardom.
Ben Simmons Gets Another Chance in the NBA
Simmons entered the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick and quickly established himself as one of the league’s most talented all-around players. His size, passing ability and defensive skills made him a unique presence on the court.
However, injuries have significantly affected his career in recent seasons. After sitting out the 2025-26 campaign, the 30-year-old Australian now has another opportunity to prove that he can still make an impact at the highest level.
The Sacramento Kings could provide Simmons with a fresh environment where he can focus on his strengths rather than the expectations that followed him earlier in his career.
What Can Simmons Bring to Sacramento?
The biggest question is simple: How much does Ben Simmons have left?
When healthy, Simmons can contribute in several areas without needing to dominate the ball. His passing and playmaking can help create opportunities for teammates, while his size allows him to defend multiple positions.
For Sacramento, adding a player with Simmons’ experience could be an interesting gamble. If he stays healthy and regains his confidence, the Kings could receive much more value than expected from a one-year deal.
